Cornelia
Parker is a sculptor and installation artist born in 1956, England. She studied
at the Gloucestershire college of Art and Design and Wolverhampton Polytechnic.
She received her MFA from Reading University and her honorary doctorates from
the University of Wolverhampton. Parker is married, with one daughter, and
lives and works in London. Parker’s mother is German and was in the Luftwaffe
during the Second World War. Her British grandfather fought in the trenches in
the First World War. A lot of her pieces show illusion of a bomb exploding and
shows destruction froze in time. This is linked to her family members and their
time during war.
